[Disclaimer: I blogged about this 2 hours ago and then my google chrome decided not to publish it. GDI]
I apologize for not blogging frequently as I promised my self I should. It really is something to dedicate 2-3 hours for a blog post, mostly because my grammar kind of suck and I have a limited vocabulary so I tend to think 4-5 minutes for the correct term. LOL. Anyway, before anything else, allow me to say that-
My Accenture contract has expired last week! I am not quite sure how to deal with this fact- I kind of want but at the same time I don't. Well, everything went by quicker than I could say Holy Guacamole. So now I move on and do something during my down time (?)
Moving on to the post, this is the first of a 4-part series so hold on to your panties ladies!
PLACE:
There are a lot of resorts you can choose from in San Juan but in our case, it all boiled down to the availability of the resort as we booked pretty late (2 months ago?). Balai sa San Juan, formerly Balai sa Laiya, was what we picked. The first few steps of the directions to get there were pretty easy to follow BUT the last steps were difficult, especially when it was time to look for the banner for the resort. We literally got to the end of the road and we didn't see it!
PROS:
The rooms were huge and the basic necessities are there and it's cheap (3900PHP/room for 4 persons; it comes with a bonfire)! It's great if you and your friends want to get away from the city for the weekend. The food was to die for and it's served buffet-style, so if you're watching your figure forget it. Indulge and let the sumptuous meal take over, I swear you will not regret this. It also has 2 swimming pools, a karaoke room, board games, kayak, fishing and a billiard table.
CONS:
Besides the fact that it's HARD to find (please, if the management of Balai sa San Juan is reading this, my friend and I are willing to create a new signage for you- we won't charge), another thing that wasn't as expected was the beach. Sure, the sand is fine and brown but there were jellyfish everywhere. We all had that experience with the jellyfish and we're not ready for another one.
OVERALL:
We really had a blast at this place. I recommend it to those of you who are looking for the Ultimate Bonding Experience with friends who're happy drinking beer (or in our case, Tanduay Ice haha) by the bonfire. Not so much on the family though, especially if you're looking forward to a day swimming on the beach. I mean, I am a beach person myself (high-fives y'all) and I was really disappointed with the jellyfish. But you know, maybe we didn't know it's jellyfish season in the Philippines? Yeah, let's go with that.
PS: We have LOTS of (not so good) experience when it comes to trips. We know it's frustrating but on the other hand, at least we have a great story to tell.
